What Companexia adds

Zefix is the source for Swiss registry data. Companexia adds structure, analysis, and a cross-border company view around it.

Analysis Layer

Financials with source context

UK companies include up to 12 years of filed accounts with the full ratio suite across each available year. For Swiss companies, financial analysis appears where accounts have been published through SOGC, so availability follows what the company has disclosed. That keeps the financial layer tied to public source material rather than implying more than the registry provides.

Cross-Border View

UK and Switzerland

Zefix is limited to Switzerland. Companexia places Swiss and UK companies in the same workflow, which helps when ownership, directors, or counterparties cross jurisdictions.

Ownership Graph

Control beyond registry

Zefix provides registry facts, but not a visual control map. Companexia turns relationships into an ownership graph, making directors, linked entities, and control paths easier to follow.

Timeline + Evidence

Timeline with evidence

Changes are easier to read when filings and events are organized as a review sequence rather than isolated records. Companexia keeps the document and the surrounding context together when a Swiss filing needs to be checked.

Why professionals need more than Zefix for Swiss company research

Zefix (Zentraler Firmenindex) is the Swiss Federal Commercial Registry Office's public portal. It provides the official index of all legal entities registered in Switzerland's 28 cantonal commercial registers. For a basic lookup of a company's name, legal form, registered office, and UID number, Zefix works well and is free.

The limitation is that Zefix is an index, not an intelligence tool. It shows you that a company exists and links to SOGC publication PDFs, but it doesn't structure that data into anything actionable. There's no ownership visualization, no event timeline, no document previews, and no way to see how companies and people are connected across entities.

Companexia sources from the same Zefix/SOGC data and adds structure: company events organized chronologically, ownership rendered as interactive network graphs, official documents with preview thumbnails, and person profiles showing every linked entity. It also covers UK companies via Companies House, giving you cross-border research capability in a single interface.

What Companexia adds to Zefix data

Companexia extracts financial figures from filed annual accounts (iXBRL for UK, SOGC publications for Switzerland) and calculates key ratios automatically: current ratio, equity ratio, return on assets, year-over-year growth in profit/loss and total assets, and compound annual growth rate. These are grouped into four categories (growth, efficiency, liquidity, and capital structure) and displayed alongside raw figures for every available filing year.

Zefix provides raw registration data without analysis or enrichment. Companexia structures the same data into actionable company profiles.

Ownership and connections across entities

Zefix lists officers and board members in SOGC publications but doesn't connect them across entities. Companexia renders ownership structures as interactive network graphs with adjustable depth from 2 to 10 levels, letting you trace connections between people and companies.

When Zefix is still the right choice

Zefix provides direct links to cantonal registers and certified extracts, which Companexia does not. For official legal proceedings requiring certified documents, you'll still need the cantonal register. For research, analysis, and understanding company structures, Companexia provides a significantly better experience.

Data sourcing and update frequency

Companexia sources UK data directly from Companies House and Swiss data from Zefix (the official Swiss commercial register). Financial figures are extracted from filed annual accounts. Ratios and health scores are calculated by Companexia's analysis engine. Every company profile displays a "Last updated" timestamp tied to the most recent registry sync.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about using Companexia as an Zefix alternative.

Why use Companexia if Zefix is already the official source?expand_more

Zefix is the source for Swiss registry data, but it is not designed as an analysis workflow. Companexia restructures that data into profiles, timelines, ownership views, document workflows, and a cross-border view that also includes UK companies.

What is the difference between Zefix and the cantonal commercial registers?expand_more

Zefix is the federal search layer that surfaces official data from the cantonal commercial registers. For some formal extracts, filings, or canton-specific record questions, the underlying cantonal register may still be the place to go.

Can I see ownership for Swiss GmbH and AG companies?expand_more

It depends on the legal form and what is publicly disclosed. For Swiss GmbH or Sàrl entities, member information is often public in the register, while for Swiss AG or SA companies shareholder information is generally not disclosed in the same way.

Does Companexia replace Zefix for legal filings or certified extracts?expand_more

No. Companexia is for research and review, not for filing actions or issuing certified registry documents. For those tasks, Zefix and the relevant cantonal register remain the official route.

Which countries does Companexia cover?expand_more

Currently Companexia covers the United Kingdom and Switzerland. That lets you move between Swiss and UK company research in one workflow.

Do I need an account to use Companexia?expand_more

No. Company profiles, financial analysis, ownership views, and documents are available without registration or sign-up.

How current is the data on Companexia?expand_more

Companexia syncs with its source registries regularly. Each company profile shows a last updated date tied to the most recent registry sync.
